Akademibokhandeln

Akademibokhandeln is Sweden’s largest bookstore chain, with physical stores across the country and a strong focus on combining traditional retail with modern e-commerce. Their mission is to make books and knowledge accessible everywhere, offering a wide range of titles while embracing digital transformation to reach customers online as well as in-store.

The Project

In 2016, Creuna was commissioned to improve Akademibokhandeln’s e-commerce site, with a particular focus on creating a new checkout experience and supporting the company’s new omni-channel strategy.

The e-commerce engine itself was handled by Bokus, so we integrated with their APIs to implement the purchase flow while ensuring a seamless user experience. My work centered on front-end development, helping build the new checkout and improving overall customer interactions on the site.

  • JavaScript and Sass for interactivity and styling

Impact

The launch of the updated e-commerce site was a success and marked Akademibokhandeln’s entry into 24/7 online retail. The new checkout improved usability and supported their omni-channel ambitions. The project was well-received, with the website nominated for Best E-commerce at the Swedish Design Awards.
